Since 1998...
1998
One of Bordeaux’s most prominent figure in Classified Growths business, Christophe Reboul Salze founds The Wine Merchant Bordeaux.






2001
With a fast business expansion, The Wine Merchant moves to new offices next to our temperature controlled cellars at Artigues-près-Bordeaux. A strategical location between Médoc and Saint-Emilion, a step away from all logistics flows.
2002
The Wine Merchant is admitted to the Académie du Vin de Bordeaux, a rare privilege for a merchant.

2008
Benefiting from the zero tax situation in Hong Kong and the great interest in fine wine in China, The Wine Merchant develops its business becoming a privileged partner with major Chinese distributors including an expertise in the local duty free business.
2010 – 2014
Facing fast growth, storage facility has been tripled in Artigues-près-Bordeaux

2017
Three private investors acquire The Wine Merchant and trust Christophe Reboul Salze to organize the transition before retiring end of 2019.
2019
Axel Vallet joins The Wine Merchant team after a 20 years’ experience in France and abroad in the fine wine business and becomes CEO in 2020.

Our deployment
Today, The Wine Merchant has 4,220m² of storage and 1.5 million bottles in stock. The office space is increased from 200 to 230 m². Around 24 people work to develop The Wine Merchant, five of whom work in the cellars.
